Front stairs made the Hawthorne Neighborhood Council Office inaccessible to many. By adding an arbor-covered front entry, it disguises a completely flat concrete side entry that enables anyone in a wheelchair, pushing a stroller, or trying to be safe in tough ice filled Minnesota winters, safe and accessible entry into the building directly to a rear parking area. This may inspire other easy solutions to a front entry with many stairs!
