Raku firing is a low fire technique originating from Japan traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies.
It embodies the aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, a philosophy who's beauty derives from the following characteristics: Irregular, Intimate, Unpretentious, Earthy, Simple. The process brings out the unexpected and swirls of color and metal and crackles bring interest and rustic beauty to these forms.

This piece fired in a special place in the Catskill Mountains.

A portion of the proceeds of this sale will go to support the water protectors at Standing Rock.
