1937 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special Roadster - 26 540 K Special Roadsters were constructed before the Second World War brought new car construction to a halt. 5.4-liter inline eight equipped with a driver-activated, Roots-type supercharger. In normally aspirated form, the engine produced 115 horsepower, but when the supercharger was mechanically activated by the driver, output grew to 180 horsepower, delivering a top speed of roughly 100 MPH.
