Adding a mantle to our fireplace. The former owner built a nice stone fire surround, but didn't have a mantle. We started by purchasing metal pins that were drilled into the wall and leveled. We drill into the back our new oak board to attach the board. With stain and poly added it made a beautiful DIY mantle. The traditional look we were looking for in our new home.
