DISASTER: The Austin (Pennsylvania) flood disaster occurred in September 1911. It was man made. The Bayless Pulp and Paper first took cost cutting steps in the construction of the dam necessary for the wood mills. Rain combined with pressure on the dam wall, which broke o September 30. An estimated 700,000 cords of woods were let loose in a raging creek. In nearby town 78 people were known dead.
